Couching Stitches

So I decided that a zig zag was not going to give me the POP art look I needed, so I am using black pipe cleaners (yes stay with me here) and zig zagging (couching) over the top of the pipe cleaner. The effect (on the left) is awesome in person. The right (between pink and orange) are the weak zig zags, and even with a tight zig zag that would take me 100 years to finish this quilt. The zig zags do not have the same effect and tactile quality. I am loving this approach. I wish you all could feel and see it in person.  Don't mind my sketches, I have yet to fill those in with thread yet.

Painted Lady sent to Barbara!

I hope that my swap partner for this month likes the painted lady. I used a fantastic panel sold by my local quilt shop, Gypsy Moon, and I thought it lended itself well to thread painting.

Until later, keep sewing and creating!

Modern Mystery!

This month it was a modern theme for Doll Quilter's Monthly Swap, and so I gave it a go. It is actually my name mirrored then appliquéd and quilted. So much for anything too cool!

Until later, keep sewing and creating!

A little bit of springtime sent to Mary for Doll Quilter's Monthly!

As I sit here listening to the rain, I decided it is better to hear rain than sleet or freezing rain! It looks like we are turning a corner to spring and I wanted to send a little bit of Spring to Mary in Canada this month.

Until later, keep sewing and creating.
